South Carolina man arrested with nine pounds of marijuana at T.F. Green Airport

WARWICK — A South Carolina man was arrested Saturday morning at T.F. Green International Airport for attempting to transport a large quantity of marijuana on a flight, authorities said.

James Perry, 25, of Columbia, was detained by Airport Police at approximately 11:15 a.m. after he was found trying to bring nine pounds of marijuana onto a Breeze Airlines plane.

Rhode Island State Troopers responded to the scene and took Perry into custody.

Perry faces charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, ranging between one kilogram and five kilograms, and possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance, specifically marijuana.

Following his arrest, Perry was transported to the State Police – Wickford Barracks for processing.

He was later taken to the Third Division District Court for arraignment.
