MANCHESTER — In the early hours of August 19, the Manchester Police Department responded to a vehicle theft report at a local residence near the Weathervane Motel, resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old transient man.

The stolen vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was reported missing at around 5 a.m. A public tip led officers to locate the vehicle later that morning in a Depot Street parking lot.

Following a thorough investigation, police arrested Jared Gallagher, charging him with Grand Larceny, Petit Larceny, and Operating Without the Owner’s Consent.

Gallagher, found to be involved in multiple incidents including rummaging through other vehicles in the Weathervane Motel area, is currently held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.

He is scheduled for a court appearance at the Bennington District Court on August 20 at 12:30 p.m.

The Manchester Police Department, with assistance from the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department and the Northshire Rescue Squad, urges anyone with information on suspicious activity or thefts in the area to contact them at 802-362-2121.
