Southbridge man faces charges after illegal firearm, ammo found during search

SOUTHBRIDGE — A Southbridge man was charged with multiple firearms offenses after detectives executed a search warrant and found an illegal rifle, magazines, and ammunition in his apartment, the Southbridge Police Department announced Saturday.

Andrew M. Dupont, 30, of 22 Hamilton Street apt#5, faces charges including possession of a firearm without a license to carry (LTC) or firearms identification (FID) card, a subsequent offense, a firearm violation with one prior drug or violent crime, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of ammunition without an LTC/FID.

Dupont, who has a history of firearms violations and other violent crimes, is prohibited from owning firearms due to his status as a convicted felon.

The search warrant, executed on Aug. 17, led to the recovery of a rifle, two magazines, and ammunition.

Following the investigation, Dupont was held at police headquarters without bail.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Dudley District Court on Monday morning.
