SOUTHBRIDGE — Detectives conducting surveillance on Central Street arrested a man Friday evening on charges of distributing cocaine.
Jose A. Gonzalez, 30, of Southbridge, was taken into custody at about 6:15 p.m. after police observed what they believed to be multiple drug transactions near a local business.
According to the Southbridge Police Department, the surveillance was part of an operation targeting illegal drug sales in the area.
Gonzalez, who resides at 164 Worcester St., faces two counts of distribution of Class B cocaine and was held for arraignment in Dudley District Court, scheduled for Monday.
Police said Gonzalez was held over the weekend pending his release on bail.
Two other individuals implicated in the investigation will be summoned to court at a later date, the press release stated.
The names of the other subjects have not been released at this time.
