PORTLAND — A local man was arrested Monday morning in connection with a violent assault over the weekend, officials said.
Ramon Nunez-Rosario, 44, is facing charges of Elevated Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Assault following an incident on Saturday that left two injured, according to the Portland Police Department.
Police responded to a call at 3:37 p.m. Saturday in the wooded area behind the Homeless Services Center at 654 Riverside Street, where they found two individuals who had been struck with a baseball bat.
The victims were transported to Maine Medical Center, one with life-threatening injuries that have since been stabilized.
Nunez-Rosario, a resident of Portland, was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have appealed to the public for additional information.
