MANCHESTER — Manchester Police apprehended a suspect late Saturday night after reports of a man shooting from his balcony at a residential building on Andrew Street.

Authorities were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m. following witness accounts of a man yelling obscenities before firing a gun.

Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter and observed 47-year-old Jay Belmore on his balcony.

Despite initial resistance and a verbal altercation with law enforcement, Belmore was taken into custody after a less-lethal impact round was used by police to ensure compliance.

Investigators found spent shell casings outside the building and retrieved a black pistol from Belmore’s apartment.

He faces charges of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
