Highgate man faces domestic assault charge

HIGHGATE — A 63-year-old Highgate man was arrested late Saturday night on a charge of first-degree aggravated domestic assault, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at a residence on Lamkin Street at approximately 11:05 p.m. Investigation at the scene revealed that Arthur Hughes allegedly caused bodily injury to another household member.

Hughes was taken into custody without incident and was later released on a citation to appear in court to face the charge.

The identity of the victim has not been released, adhering to Vermont State Police policy on cases of sexual assault or domestic violence.
