Brattleboro police make multiple arrests over weekend

BRATTLEBORO — A string of arrests unfolded over the weekend as Brattleboro Police Department responded to various incidents ranging from disturbances to alleged sexual assault.

The weekend began on Aug. 16 around 4:55 p.m. when officers were called to Theory Wellness on Putney Road due to a male causing a disturbance.

Jesse Berthe, 44, from Monroe, CT, was arrested on an active warrant and held in lieu of bail.

He faces arraignment in Windham County Superior Court today.

Later that evening, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a reported sexual assault at Great River Terrace led to the arrest of Richard Calderon, 56, of Brattleboro.

Calderon was charged with sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and interference with access to emergency services.

He was held on $5,000 bail and is also scheduled for arraignment today.

Police encountered Adam Florence, 45, during a foot patrol downtown in the Preston Lot on Flat Street on Aug. 17 at about 10:15 a.m. Florence, who had an active Vermont arrest warrant, was taken into custody and later released on bail.

That afternoon, at around 3:20 p.m., David Mears, 46, of Brattleboro, was arrested downtown on an active arrest warrant and was released after posting bail, with an arraignment pending.

Officers responded to Cumberland Farms near midnight on Aug. 17 concerning a suspicious vehicle.

Brian Foy, 48, from Burlington, was found operating the vehicle with a suspended license, in violation of his court-ordered release conditions, and in possession of Fentanyl.

Foy, who had an active arrest warrant, was taken into custody and is due to appear in court at a later date for the additional offenses.

On the morning of Aug. 18, Ian Earle, 33, of Brattleboro, was arrested for trespassing on Main Street around 7:40 a.m. and violating court-ordered conditions by being with a female he was prohibited from contacting.

He was held on $200 bail pending today’s arraignment.

At approximately 1:55 p.m. the same day, officers arrived at Great River Terrace for a reported burglary and arrested Tenikea Leber, 35, and Alexander Duran, 42, from Springfield, MA, inside a vacant residence.

Additionally, Chelsie Oullette, 48, of Brattleboro, was arrested on an unrelated active Vermont arrest warrant.

All three are awaiting arraignment today.

Later that evening, at about 8:15 p.m., a medical event led to a vehicle striking a residence on South Main Street, causing significant damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the building’s foundation.

The driver was transported to BMH for evaluation.
