Bethel man charged with aggravated assault involving a weapon

BETHEL — A local man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon in an incident that took place in the presence of a child, state police said.

Aaron C. Welch, 26, of Bethel, is accused of using a knife or pointed weapon in an altercation with Michael A.

Taylor, 31, also of Bethel, according to Vermont State Police from the Royalton Barracks.

Authorities were called to the scene on Hidden Glen Rd. around 11:20 a.m. on Aug. 18.

The investigation led to Welch’s arrest after it was determined he had committed the assault while a child was present, meeting the criteria for an aggravated offense.

Welch was taken into custody without incident and processed at the VSP Royalton Barracks.

He was later released with a criminal citation to appear in court.

The date and time of his court appearance have not been disclosed.
