PROVIDENCE — Two individuals were apprehended by Rhode Island State Police in separate traffic stops on Route 6 on Friday morning, facing various charges including failure to appear in court and fleeing an accident scene.

At 8:10 a.m., troopers from the Scituate Barracks took into custody Michael Dupre, 38, of Providence, following a vehicle stop.

Dupre was wanted on a Third District Court bench warrant for failing to appear for arraignment on a charge of driving with a suspended license, which originated from the State Police Wickford Barracks.

Additionally, he had an outstanding Providence Superior Court bench warrant related to a failure to appear for a restitution review on a charge of domestic violence-simple assault from the Pawtucket Police Department.

Dupre was processed at the State Police Headquarters and later presented to Providence Superior Court for arraignment.

Shortly after, at 10:12 a.m., Lismarie Martinez Vargas, 32, of Central Falls, was detained on an affidavit and arrest warrant for failing to stop for an accident, a charge stemming from the Warwick Police Department.

Similar to Dupre, Vargas’s arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 6.

She was processed at State Police Headquarters before being transferred to the custody of the Warwick Police Department.
