EASTHAMPTON — A man’s body was found floating in Lower Mill Pond in Easthampton at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday, authorities said.
The discovery was made by a man and his son who were fishing in the area.
They immediately contacted the police upon finding the body.
The deceased has been tentatively identified as 22-year-old Rodney Yankson of Easthampton, who was reported missing since Aug. 13.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to officially determine the identity and cause of death.
The Easthampton Police Department, along with the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, is handling the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Yankson’s death.
