Stamford police arrest juvenile, recover firearm in westside raid

STAMFORD — Stamford Police Major Crime and Narcotic Detectives, with support from the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team, executed a high-risk warrant service on Fairfield Avenue in the westside on Wednesday morning.

The operation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old male for his involvement in an assault that took place on Friday, August 9.

Police also recovered a firearm believed to be used in the crime.

During the incident, the juvenile suspect allegedly had a verbal altercation with a female juvenile, pointed a firearm at her head, and then physically assaulted her, causing injury.

Due to the suspect’s age, his name has not been released.

The suspect faces charges including Threatening 1st degree, Assault 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit.

Following the arrest and search warrant execution on August 14, additional charges have been applied, comprising Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine, Failure to Register a Firearm, Negligent Storage of a Firearm, Illegal Transfer of a Firearm, and Possession of Narcotics.

The juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention center in Bridgeport.

The Stamford Police Department has praised the quick action by the investigative team in apprehending the suspect and potentially preventing further violence.
