BOSTON — Boston police arrested a Dorchester man for firearm-related offenses after a road rage altercation led officers to recover a loaded gun, authorities said Friday.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to reports of a person with a gun at 488 Blue Hill Ave. in Dorchester.

Upon arrival, they encountered a victim who was pointing at an occupied vehicle and yelling.

The victim told police that he had been involved in a verbal dispute with the occupants of the other vehicle near Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

The argument escalated when both vehicles were stopped at a traffic light, and a passenger from the other vehicle, later identified as 24-year-old Davente Monteiro, got out and began photographing the victim’s car.

Monteiro then opened the passenger side door of the victim’s vehicle and threatened the victim, leading him to believe Monteiro was armed.

During the investigation, officers conducted a pat-frisk of the suspect’s vehicle and found a firearm inside a backpack on the backseat.

The weapon, a Glock 30 .45 caliber with a round in the chamber and 17 rounds in a high-capacity magazine, also had a magazine extension and a rail accessory attached.

Monteiro was detained along with the other two occupants of the vehicle.

B-2 Detectives took custody of the firearm, and further investigation led to Monteiro’s arrest.

He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Threat to Commit a Crime.
