GEORGIA — A Swanton man is facing multiple charges, including negligent operation and cruelty to a child, after being clocked at 101 mph on Interstate 89, Vermont State Police said.

Dalton Katon, 27, was spotted by a trooper on Aug. 14 speeding southbound near Exit 18 in Georgia, driving at a rate of speed significantly above the posted 65 mph limit.

During the traffic stop, authorities determined Katon’s license was criminally suspended in Vermont.

Accompanying Katon in the vehicle were two passengers, one of whom was a young child.

The trooper deemed the excessive speed to be recklessly endangering both passengers.

Katon has been issued a criminal citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court to respond to charges that include negligent operation, recklessly endangering another person, cruelty to a child, and criminal driving with a suspended license (DLS).
