DOVER — A motorcycle crash on the Spaulding Turnpike left a 20-year-old rider with serious injuries, according to the New Hampshire State Police.

The incident occurred near Exit 7 on the southbound side of the turnpike on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at approximately 8:45 p.m. State Troopers from Troop A barracks were called to the scene following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Yorky Acosta Hernandez of Chicopee, Massachusetts, was identified as the operator of the 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Hernandez was traveling southbound when he lost control while navigating a curve.

The motorcycle veered off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail in the center median.

Hernandez was thrown from the motorcycle, which continued south for a short distance before coming to rest in the travel lanes.

Emergency services transported Hernandez to a nearby hospital to receive care for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Troop A received assistance from the City of Dover Fire & Rescue and Eddie B Towing & Recovery.

Traffic was halted for about an hour as Troopers conducted an on-scene investigation.

The road was completely cleared and reopened to traffic by 9:58 p.m.

Trooper Kevin Ledoux of the Troop A barracks is leading the ongoing investigation.
