Milton police warn residents of cloned non-emergency line scam calls

1 min read

MILTON — The Milton Police Department has issued a scam alert after several residents reported receiving fraudulent calls from a number that appears to be the department’s non-emergency line.

Authorities said the scammers have cloned the non-emergency number (603) 652-4500 and are using it to contact residents, attempting to exploit them by requesting bail money, donations, or offering to connect them with a relative who has supposedly been arrested.

The police department emphasized that legitimate dispatchers from the non-emergency line will never make such requests.

Residents who receive a suspicious call are advised to hang up immediately and contact the non-emergency line directly to verify the legitimacy of the call.

They should avoid redialing the number that appeared on their caller ID, as it might reconnect them with the scammer.

To report an incident or for further assistance, individuals can reach out to the Milton Police Department at (603) 652-4514.
