Manchester man surrenders after Maple Street shooting

MANCHESTER — A 22-year-old Manchester man turned himself in to police Wednesday evening in connection with a shooting at a local convenience store earlier in the day.

Authorities issued a warrant for Diogene Nsengiyumva after the incident, which took place around 9:50 a.m. at the El Pacero Market at 326 Maple St.

Following the shooting, a 27-year-old man arrived at Elliot Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Manchester Police Department’s investigation linked the shooting to an altercation inside the convenience store, identifying Nsengiyumva as the suspect.

He faces charges of first-degree assault, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and theft by unauthorized taking, commonly known as shoplifting.

Nsengiyumva was held pending a court appearance.
