Teen hospitalized after Lake Winnipesaukee boating incident

GILFORD — A 17-year-old was hospitalized following a boating incident on Lake Winnipesaukee on Aug. 13.

New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol received a distress call at 4:56 p.m. about an unconscious teenager while tubing near Little Camp Island.

Sgt. Nicholas Haroutunian and Marine Patrol Supervisor David Jones reached the scene swiftly and found the juvenile’s father performing life-saving measures aboard the boat.

The officers took over the life-saving efforts and coordinated with the incoming Gilford Fire Rescue boat.

The teen was transported to shore by emergency personnel and later to Concord Hospital – Laconia in critical but stable condition.

Authorities including Gilford Fire Rescue and the Laconia Fire Department assisted at the scene.
