Somerville police investigate two assaults, multiple thefts in one day

SOMERVILLE — Two individuals were assaulted in separate incidents on Aug. 12, amid a spate of unrelated thefts, according to the Somerville Police Department.

The first assault occurred early in the morning, at 2:55 a.m., when police were flagged down on College Ave by a distressed woman.

She reported that another female approached her near the Davis Sq train station and sprayed her with mace.

The second assault happened later that evening at 8:54 p.m. Officers responded to a call at 115 Broadway where they found a male victim with injuries to his stomach, fingers, and elbow.

He reported being assaulted nearby but declined to provide further details.

In addition to the assaults, Somerville Police also reported three motor vehicle thefts, two incidents of motor vehicle vandalism, two package thefts, three bicycle thefts, two other acts of vandalism, and one car break-in.

The police are currently investigating all incidents and have not provided any information on possible suspects.

They are asking anyone with information to come forward to help in their inquiries.
