1 min read

PUTNAM — Earlier today, a concerned citizen reported suspicious activity to the Putnam Police Department after discovering two hand-painted signs deemed inappropriate for the local community.

The signs were found attached to utility poles on Grove Street and South Main Street around 9:15 a.m.

Upon arrival at the police headquarters, the individual presented the signs, which contained the website of an organization listed as a white nationalist hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The Putnam Police Department has launched an investigation to ascertain if the signs are connected to any criminal activities.

As the investigation remains ongoing, officials have not released additional details at this time.

Authorities are working to determine the source of the signs and the intent behind their placement in the community.
