Lowell, MA police arrest two after observing drug deal, seize firearm and narcotics

LOWELL — Detectives from the Lowell Police Department’s Special Investigations Section (SIS) and Warrant Unit, together with the Massachusetts State Police, arrested two individuals on Aug. 13 after interrupting an apparent drug transaction in South Common Park.

During proactive patrols, detectives noted suspicious activity and proceeded to stop a vehicle believed to be involved.

Upon conducting the stop, a juvenile male passenger fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended after a short chase.

The juvenile was found in possession of both a firearm and illegal narcotics.

He was taken into custody and faces charges related to firearms and narcotics possession.

An adult male, also in the vehicle, was arrested on narcotics charges.

The Lowell Police Department continues to investigate the incident and has not released further details regarding the identities of the individuals due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
