Boston police seek help identifying suspect in string of neighborhood robberies

BOSTON — Detectives from the Boston Police Department’s District E-18 are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in a series of unarmed robberies across several Boston neighborhoods.

The individual, described as a possibly Hispanic male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and aged 18-20, has been linked to four incidents that took place in Hyde Park, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, and West Roxbury between June 8 and Aug. 4.

The suspect, who typically wears a hooded sweatshirt with the hood tightened around his head, reportedly followed victims from bus or train stations before robbing them of their gold chains.

According to police reports, the victims targeted by the suspect were between the ages of 60 and 70.

The chains were forcibly removed from their necks.

The BPD is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding these incidents and is committed to apprehending the individual responsible.
