PAWTUCKET — Following an investigation into a motor vehicle accident on Route 95 South, Rhode Island State Troopers have arrested Joel Arais Tejeda on charges related to leaving the scene of an attended vehicle accident with personal injury.

Tejeda, 28, of Providence, was taken into custody at 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 11 after allegedly fleeing an accident involving another vehicle.

He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident of an attended vehicle with personal injury and the duty to stop in the event of an accident with an attended vehicle.

After processing at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, Tejeda was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and received a future Sixth Division District Court arraignment date.

In a separate incident earlier the same day, at 1:30 a.m., Christopher Pagan, 31, also of Providence, was arrested by Troopers for possession of a Schedule I-V controlled substance.

Pagan’s arrest occurred after a traffic-related incident, though details of the encounter have not been released.

Both men are currently awaiting further court proceedings.

The Rhode Island State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
