BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers arrested a man on firearm charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester last night.

At about 7:40 p.m., on Sunday, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force pulled over a vehicle with excessively tinted windows near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Glenway Street.

The driver, identified as Domingos Lopes, 27, of Dorchester, struggled to park the car properly after the police initiated the stop using their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers requested identification from the occupants.

Lopes was unable to provide a valid driver’s license and was asked to exit the vehicle.

Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a Glock 43 with seven rounds in the magazine.

Lopes was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
