Man cited for driving 101 mph on I-89 in Milton

MILTON — A Vermont driver was caught speeding at 101 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 89, leading to a citation for negligent operation, police said.

Kevin Campbell, 35, of Swanton, was observed by a trooper at around 7:02 p.m. on August 10 driving aggressively and well above the speed limit near mile marker 102.8.

After being stopped, Campbell, who had four passengers in his vehicle, received a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on Sept. 19 at 8:15 a.m.

In addition to the negligent operation charge, Campbell was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for exceeding the interstate speed limit, which includes a penalty of 2 points on his license and a fine of $544.
