Waterford police seek help identifying shoplifting suspect

WATERFORD — Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a woman suspected of shoplifting from a local Target store.

The incident occurred on July 27, 2024, at approximately 2 p.m. According to the Waterford Police Department, the unidentified woman entered the Target and selected a VTech Video Monitor and a Consumer Cellular A15 phone, with a combined value of $279.98.

Authorities say the suspect left the store without attempting to pay for the items.

Police report that one item was burned to remove its packaging and security features.

The woman reportedly fled in a red Chevrolet HHR with Connecticut license plate BM36410, which is registered to an address in the New London area.

While police have made contact with the vehicle’s owner, they are still working to confirm the identity of the suspect, who may go by the name “Jade.”
