BEVERLY — The Beverly Police Department evacuated its station Friday afternoon after a possible incendiary device was brought in, prompting a response from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad.

Chief John G. LeLacheur reported that the device was discovered during junk removal at a residence and brought to the police station at around 4:15 p.m.

Although the device is believed to be a training aid, the department has taken precautionary measures by requesting the bomb squad’s assistance.

Authorities are currently handling the situation to ensure the device is safely disposed of.

The Beverly Police Department strongly advises the public against transporting any suspicious items they encounter.

Instead, they urge residents to call the police from their location to report potential incendiary devices.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
