MERRIMACK — A Merrimack man turned himself in to police after a domestic incident escalated into a standoff with law enforcement last week.
Authorities say Joshua Pasek, who was allegedly armed during a dispute, is now facing multiple charges, including criminal threatening and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
Officers were dispatched to a housing complex at around 7:40 p.m. on Aug. 7 after receiving reports of a domestic situation.
They learned Pasek had engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, brandished a firearm, and threatened harm while preventing the victim from leaving the home.
After the victim managed to escape, Pasek reportedly chased them before returning to the residence.
Uncertain if Pasek had barricaded himself inside, the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit was called to the scene.
The unit later determined Pasek had fled.
Following negotiations that failed to secure his surrender, Pasek remained at large for over 24 hours.
He surrendered to Merrimack police on Aug. 9.
Pasek was held on preventative detention and is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit District Court in Merrimack on Monday, Aug. 12, at 8:15 a.m.
Charges include criminal threatening, simple assault, false imprisonment, obstructing the report of a crime, and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
