WAREHAM — Two individuals were arrested on August 6 after breaking into Wareham Middle School and stealing a MacBook laptop, according to the Wareham Police Department.
Officers responded to an alarm activation at the school in the early morning hours and found a broken window.
Security footage reviewed by the officers showed a male and a female entering through the damaged entry point.
The suspects were identified as Jacob Silva, 18, and Aubrey Ferreira, 19, both from Massachusetts.
Silva is a resident of Wareham, while Ferreira hails from New Bedford.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division pursued the case and established that the pair had taken the laptop.
Later that day, the Wareham Juvenile Detective and a Wareham officer found Silva and Ferreira near the school grounds.
Both were taken into custody without incident.
The stolen MacBook was recovered at Silva’s residence and has since been returned to the Wareham School Department.
Silva faces charges of Breaking and Entering (B&E) in the nighttime for a felony, malicious destruction of property under $1,200, and larceny from a building.
Ferreira is charged with similar offenses.
Both suspects are scheduled for arraignment at the Wareham 4th District Court on August 7.
Chief Walter Correia commended the teamwork between the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and the Wareham School Department for the swift apprehension of the suspects and recovery of the stolen property.
