Tunbridge man arrested for domestic assault

TUNBRIDGE — Vermont State Police arrested a local man late Tuesday night following reports of a domestic assault at a residence on County Turnpike.

Authorities responded to the scene at 11:14 p.m. and determined that David Smart, 51, had caused pain and injury to a domestic partner.

Smart, a resident of Tunbridge, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Royalton barracks for processing.

Following his arrest, Smart was given court-ordered conditions of release.

He is scheduled to appear before the Orange County Superior Court Criminal Division at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 to answer to the charges.

In accordance with their policy, the identity of the victim in the domestic assault case has not been released.
