Middletown police make final arrest in months-long murder investigation

MIDDLETOWN — In the culmination of a thorough and relentless investigation, Middletown Police have made the final arrest in the murder of 20-year-old Jonathan Semidey, who was fatally shot in the early hours of May 21 in the parking lot of Hidden Hookah Lounge.

Responding to the shooting at approximately 3:49 a.m., police found Semidey with gunshot wounds.

He was quickly transported to Middlesex Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Major Investigations Unit of the Middletown Police, working for months on the case, determined that multiple shooters and weapons were involved in the incident.

Their investigation led to the arrest of three individuals on Sept. 7: Akeil Booker, 25; Gene Daniels, 23; and Gianni Marmol, 27.

All were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Semidey’s death.

Additionally, Mayraines “Winter” Nunez, 22, faced charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence.

The police continued their investigation to bring all parties involved to justice.

On Aug. 2, Chauncey Wilson, 26, of Hartford, was also arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Wilson was arraigned at Middlesex Superior Court three days later and is being held on a $1 million court-set bond.

The Middletown Police Department remains committed to ensuring that those responsible for Semidey’s death are held accountable.

The investigation’s success highlights the dedication and diligence of the detectives involved.
