Man faces burglary, assault charges in Hartland incident

HARTLAND — A Newport, New Hampshire man was arrested on charges of burglary, trespassing, simple assault, and stalking after allegedly breaking into a residence on Cherry Tree Lane and assaulting another man, Vermont State Police said Tuesday.

Troopers from the Royalton Barracks were called to the scene on June 8, where they discovered that Carleton H.

Tarrien III, 21, had entered the home of a former domestic partner to attack her new boyfriend.

The investigation further revealed that Tarrien had been stalking his ex-partner using electronic communication methods.

Following the incident, Tarrien was apprehended and taken into custody.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division on July 8 at 12:30 p.m. to respond to the charges filed against him.

Tarrien was held at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail pending his court appearance.
