Dorset man arrested at Peru campground on outstanding warrant

PERU — A Dorset man was arrested Saturday afternoon at Hapgood Pond Campground after reportedly causing a disturbance, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities said they responded around 4:48 p.m. to reports of a man disrupting other campground guests.

Upon their arrival, troopers identified the individual as 61-year-old Jeff Cone of Dorset.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Cone had an active arrest warrant related to a DUI charge in Rutland County.

Cone was taken into custody and processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks before being held at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, unable to post the required $50.00 bail.

Cone is scheduled to appear at the Rutland County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Aug. 5 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the offense.
