BOSTON — Boston Police arrested a man Tuesday morning in connection with a shooting in Roxbury that left another man wounded.
At about 11:30 a.m., officers from District B-2 responded to a report of a shooting at 10 Roxbury Street.
Upon arrival, they began searching for both a victim and a suspect.
The victim, who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries, later arrived at a local hospital on his own.
Detectives obtained surveillance footage showing the victim walking toward Malcolm X Boulevard and managed to disseminate an image of the alleged shooter.
A detective saw an individual matching the description near Centre Street and Estrella Street.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Alexander Delarosa of Boston, attempted to hide behind a vehicle and reached into his pocket as officers approached.
Despite verbal commands to show his hands, Delarosa refused.
Officers were able to detain and handcuff him swiftly, finding a Regent firearm with three rounds and one spent shell casing in his sweater pocket.
Delarosa faces charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
