West Springfield man charged with fentanyl trafficking

WEST SPRINGFIELD — After a week of investigation and surveillance, the West Springfield Police Department arrested Renaul Lee Horsler, 47, of Niantic, CT, for trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl, a felony charge.

The arrest occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on April 8 near the West Side Inn on Riverdale Street.

Members of the West Springfield Narcotics Unit, aided by patrol officers, took Horsler into custody.

At the time of his arrest, Horsler was found to be in possession of over 1,000 glassine bags of fentanyl, which were marked with the label “Superman.”

Horsler was transported to police headquarters following the arrest and was afforded all rights as per legal requirements.

The police department has not released additional details about the surveillance operation leading to the arrest or if there are any other suspects involved in the case.
