West Pawlet farmer cited for assault following confrontation

WEST PAWLET — A local farmer has been cited for allegedly assaulting a worker and a juvenile on his farm after a confrontation over illegal narcotics last month, authorities said.

The Vermont State Police issued the citation to Richard Hulett, 45, of West Pawlet, following an investigation into the incident that began around 11:35 p.m. on July 3 at 1290 Vermont Route 30.

According to police, Hulett confronted Ulver Perez-Roblero, 30, also of West Pawlet, after receiving information that Perez-Roblero had attempted to distribute illegal narcotics on Hulett’s property.

During the altercation, Hulett is accused of assaulting Perez-Roblero and a juvenile who tried to intervene.

Both Perez-Roblero and the juvenile, whose name has not been released, were treated for minor injuries at Rutland Regional Medical Center the following day.

After working with the Rutland County State’s Attorney’s Office, Vermont State Police cited Hulett on two counts of misdemeanor simple assault.

He is scheduled for arraignment at 10 a.m. on Sept. 23 in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Rutland.
