WILLIAMSTOWN — Troopers from the Berlin Barracks arrested two men Sunday evening on charges including providing false information to law enforcement and obstructing justice.

At 7:09 p.m., authorities responded to Graniteville Road after receiving information that Daviel Rivera, 40, of Springfield, Massachusetts, who had two outstanding in-state arrest warrants, was spotted in the area.

Upon arrival, troopers witnessed Rivera entering a local residence.

Cory Parton, 47, of Williamstown, attempted to mislead troopers by claiming Rivera was not present and actively impeded their efforts to apprehend Rivera.

Despite the obstruction, both men were taken into custody without further incident.

Following the arrest, Rivera and Parton were transported to the State Police Berlin Barracks for processing.

Parton received a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division and was released.

Rivera, unable to post bail for the arrest warrants from Caledonia and Washington Counties, was taken to the Northwest State Correctional Facility in Saint Albans.

The Berlin Police Department provided assistance during the investigation.
