BOSTON — A man has been arrested on armed robbery charges after a confrontation in downtown Boston on Saturday, police said.
Xavier DeJesus, 27, of Lawrence, was apprehended by officers from District A-1 around 2:34 p.m. following a reported fight at 6 Congress Street.
According to authorities, DeJesus attempted to steal a bicycle and assaulted the victim by punching and biting him.
Both parties involved in the incident fled toward the Boston Public Market but were stopped by security before entering the building.
The victim, who had pursued DeJesus, provided details of the altercation to the officers.
DeJesus now faces charges of armed robbery, assault and battery, and providing false identification information to law enforcement.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court.
