BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a man early Saturday after responding to a call about a person with a gun in South Boston.
At approximately 2:54 a.m., police responded to the vicinity of 391 D Street following reports of an individual brandishing a firearm.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Atwood, 29, of South Boston, was described as weaving through traffic on a bicycle and striking vehicles with his fist.
According to witnesses, the altercation escalated when a passenger in one of the vehicles doused Atwood with water, prompting him to point a gun at them.
Police located Atwood near 250 Summer Street and promptly detained him.
A pat frisk revealed a holstered Sig Sauer P365, loaded with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine, on Atwood’s person.
Further investigation revealed that Atwood held a valid license to carry a firearm but had reportedly consumed several alcoholic beverages before the incident.
Authorities have since confiscated his carry license pending the outcome of the investigation.
Atwood faces charges for assault by means of a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
He is slated for arraignment at South Boston District Court.
