Tewksbury ramp closure for overnight repairs, expect delays

1 min read

TEWKSBURY — The ramp from Route 133 to I-495 southbound at exit 94 will be closed overnight for bridge joint repairs, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced Friday.

The closure, which began at 8 p.m., will continue until 5 a.m. Saturday.

During this period, traffic seeking to enter I-495 southbound from Route 133 will be rerouted to I-495 northbound, with instructions to use exit 97B for I-93 northbound in order to reverse direction.

Alongside the ramp closure, the right lane of I-495 southbound will also be temporarily shut down to facilitate the repairs.

This could result in traffic delays, and drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel, reduce speed, and exercise caution when driving through the area.

MassDOT has deployed appropriate signage and law enforcement to guide motorists through the detour.

Advanced message boards have also been set up to inform drivers of the closure and expected traffic conditions.

Travelers can stay updated on the latest traffic conditions by downloading the Mass511 mobile app, visiting the Mass511 website, or dialing 511 for real-time traffic information.

Additionally, updates will be posted on @MassDOT’s X account, which offers regular updates on road and traffic conditions.
