Ridgefield man arrested on murder charge after domestic incident

RIDGEFIELD — In the early hours of Aug. 3, Ridgefield Police were dispatched to a home on Powderhorn Drive following a report of a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an elderly male deceased inside the residence.

Steven James Uricchio, 31, was arrested at the scene without incident and has been charged with murder under Connecticut General Statutes Section 53a-54a.

Uricchio is currently being held on a $1.5 million bond at the Ridgefield Police Department and is scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Aug. 5.

The Ridgefield Police Department’s Detective Division and the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad are jointly investigating the incident.

Captain Jeff Raines, Public Information Officer for the Ridgefield Police Department, emphasized that this appears to be an isolated event, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
