Trumbull man identified in Bridgeport shooting

BRIDGEPORT — A 40-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the chest Thursday night, police said.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Seaview Avenue and Grant Street around 10:22 p.m. Bridgeport police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the area.

Officers found the victim hiding in the backyard of a home in the 1800 block of Seaview Avenue.

He was transported to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Police have identified the shooter as a 54-year-old man from Trumbull.

The suspect was one of the first callers to report the incident to authorities and later provided a statement to investigators.

The Bridgeport Police Department’s Forensic Identification Unit processed the crime scene, which was secured by patrol officers.

The Detective Bureau has taken over the investigation.
