BARNSTABLE — A 25-year-old New York man was arrested and extradited to Massachusetts for allegedly scamming an Osterville resident out of $100,000 through a business email compromise scheme.

Khaseem Allah of Albany, New York, was arraigned Thursday in Barnstable Superior Court on charges of larceny over $1,200.

He was ordered held on $50,000 bail with GPS monitoring if released.

The Barnstable Police Department and U.S. Secret Service New England Cyber Fraud Task Force investigated the case, which began in November when authorities learned of a compromised email targeting a company doing business with the victim.

Investigators traced the fraudulent $100,000 transfer to a New York bank account linked to Allah.

He was indicted by the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office and arrested in Troy, New York, with assistance from Massachusetts State Police and U.S. Marshals.

Allah waived extradition and was transported to Massachusetts by state police detectives.

The case resulted from collaboration between Barnstable police, U.S. Secret Service, Massachusetts State Police, and the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
