BELCHERTOWN — Police are seeking the public’s help to identify suspects who abandoned a severely neglected beagle near a local store on July 2, 2024.

The female dog, nicknamed “Bagel,” was found covered in feces outside Tractor Supply Company around 9 p.m., according to the Belchertown Police Department.

A veterinary examination revealed the approximately 2-year-old beagle suffered from mange, double ear infections, cherry eyes and paw infections.

Officials said the dog appeared to have given birth to puppies at some point.

Surveillance footage from nearby businesses shows the suspects driving an older model dark-colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with a cap on the bed.
