Stamford police seek help finding missing man

STAMFORD — Stamford Police Department has issued a missing person alert for William Harris, who was last seen on July 29 at around 5 p.m. leaving his home at 10 Amelia Place.

Harris, born January 10, 1954, was reported missing by his sister, Lillie Williams, on Wednesday, July 31.

According to Williams, she has not been in contact with her brother since his disappearance.

Harris, who is known to visit areas around West Avenue, Harvard Avenue, 1990 West Main Street, and West Main/Ann Street, does not own a vehicle.

Described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds, Harris has brown eyes, a bald head, and was last seen wearing a black windbreaker, white t-shirt, blue jeans, a baseball hat of unknown color, and white sneakers.

The Stamford Police patrol division responded to the report at the SPD Headquarters.

Williams expressed concern, noting that Harris suffers from dementia and has a history of going missing.

The Special Victims Unit, headed by Detective Donahue and Sergeant Murphy, is leading the search.

They are urging anyone with information regarding Harris’s whereabouts to make contact at 203-977-5884.
