Needham police log: Package theft, vehicle citations, and scams under investigation

NEEDHAM — Over the past week, Needham Police Department responded to a series of incidents including larceny, vehicle violations, and multiple reports of fraud and scams, according to the latest police log.

On July 22 at around 10 a.m., police were called to a Glendale Road address upon receiving a report of a stolen package from a front porch.

The case is currently under investigation.

That same day, an officer conducting a security check on Charles River Street at approximately 5:57 p.m. issued a town bylaw citation to a 17-year-old Needham resident for possession of marijuana under the age of 21.

Later in the evening, officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Hunting Road involving a pedestrian.

The following day, a Beverly man, 26, was cited for driving an unregistered motor vehicle among other violations after a motor vehicle stop in the area of Central Avenue and Parish Road.

On July 24, officers documented a series of reports including a past hit-and-run on Greendale Avenue, a past disturbance on Linden Street that was resolved between neighbors, vandalism on Charles River Street, and fraudulent activity at a 1st Avenue business.

A fraudulent transaction report at a 1st Avenue address and a walk-in report of past fraud were also recorded.

The morning of July 25 saw the discovery of a BB gun and a charred wooden log on Pine Street, while property was recovered on Chestnut Street, and a larceny was reported on Maple Street.

A Wellesley man, 31, received a citation following a vehicle stop due to a rejected inspection sticker.

Additional incidents included a business alarm on Great Plain Avenue, a forged check report on Central Avenue, and reports of suspicious persons and an unwanted party on Highland Avenue.

A stolen bicycle report on Kendrick Street and a suspicious vehicle on Hamlin Lane were also documented.

On July 27, officers assisted in reuniting two lost dogs with their owner on Alfreton Road.

The period concluded with a scam report at a Great Plain Avenue business on July 28.

Throughout the week, there were no reportable arrests.

Needham Police continue to investigate several of the incidents and remind residents to report any suspicious activity.
