Man arrested in Dorchester shooting, victim expected to survive

BOSTON — A 48-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a nonfatal shooting in Dorchester, according to the Boston Police Department.

At about 8:03 a.m., officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a report of a person shot at 28 Fernboro St. They found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound.

He was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

However, as of this afternoon, the victim’s condition has improved, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives conducting the investigation identified Carlos Encarnacion, 48, of Dorchester, as the suspect in the shooting.

He was located and arrested in Framingham.

Encarnacion is charged with armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Encarnacion is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Thursday morning.
