BOSTON — Boston Police officers arrested a 37-year-old Hyde Park man for firearm offenses during a traffic stop in Roxbury late Wednesday night.

At about 8:40 p.m., on July 31, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) stopped a vehicle driven by David Nunez at the intersection of Dale St. and Sherman St. after it failed to stop at a stop sign and sped away.

While conducting the traffic stop, officers noted Nunez’s suspicious movements inside the car.

A subsequent search revealed a firearm in a fanny pack on the front passenger floorboard.

The Ruger EC95 recovered contained six bronze luger rounds in a magazine, with no round in the chamber.

Nunez was taken into custody and charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License (2nd Offense), Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, according to the Boston Police Department.

He is also facing traffic violations for speeding and failure to observe a stop sign.

Nunez is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
