Somerville police investigate assault, breaking and entering among other crimes

SOMERVILLE — In the span of a week, Somerville Police Department has responded to multiple incidents, including an assault and a residential breaking and entering.

On July 24, at approximately 5:23 p.m., officers were called to Richdale Ave after a report of a past assault.

The victim told police she was walking her dog when she became involved in an argument with her neighbor, which escalated to the neighbor punching her.

Authorities have identified the suspect involved in the altercation.

In a separate incident on July 28, around 7:11 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Aldrich St following a report of a past breaking and entering.

The landlord reported that a former tenant had illegally entered another tenant’s room and caused damage to several items.

The suspect in this case has also been identified by the officers.

Apart from these incidents, Somerville Police have also noted an uptick in property crimes, including four package thefts, one bicycle theft, two incidents of motor vehicle vandalism, and six car breaks.

The police are investigating all cases and urge the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigations.
