OXFORD — The Oxford Police Department announced that on Friday, Aug. 2, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a small group of cyclists heading to participate in the Pan-Mass Challenge will be traveling west on Sutton Avenue and onto Charlton Street with a police escort.

The department advised that the cyclists’ passage will only cause a very brief traffic delay and expressed gratitude for the community’s understanding and support.

In addition, on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 6 a.m. to about 7:30 a.m., riders participating in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge will be entering Oxford from Charlton.

The participants will cycle east on Charlton Street through Oxford Center and continue onto Sutton Ave toward the Town of Sutton, also accompanied by a police escort.

Motorists should expect temporary traffic delays at the intersections of Main Street at Charlton Street (Oxford Center) and Sutton Ave. at Larned Road (near Home Depot/Market Basket).

The Oxford Police Department thanks residents for their patience and support during this time.

The Pan-Mass Challenge is an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
